Chris Thompson of the Second Baptist Church of Liberty (from left) dance with Winona Washburn, while Kristi Cates joined in dance with Byron Buffalo at the Sunday evening at Second Baptist Church. Buffalo , from the Cheyenne River Reservation in South Dakota , and members of the Tiyospaye Gospel Group visited the church and shared songs, dancing and stories of life on the reservation. The group was invited after members of the Second Baptist Church and Liberty residents collected about 2,000 coats, blankets and hats for those on the reservation. The collection effort was part of Projec Warm Embrace. The project is now working to raise funds – at least $40,000 – and recruit churches and groups to help open a thrift/outlet store/craft cooperative and a Laundromat and the reservation this summer. Anyone interested can contact Chris or Dana Thompson at 816-792-3058 or cthompson@thompsonjames.com.

The Warm Embrace web site is made possible by support from our partner, CBF of Missouri .
